Why Use a Lotion?

• You will tan faster and darker if you do.
• Your tan will last longer and look healthier.
• Tanning without lotion depletes the skin of moisture.

What are bronzers?

A bronzing lotion can either contain a temporary bronzing tint such as walnut extract, that can be washed off with soap and water or DHA (Dihydroxyacetone), which is a widely used FDA-approved self tanning ingredient that causes the skin to brown, mimicking a natural tan. Many products in our salons contain multiple bronzing agents. Bronzers especially help darken the hard to tan areas of your skin giving you a perfectly beautiful tan.

Celebrity Tanning offers the tanning industry’s very best, most technologically advanced products in many price ranges. Our professional tanning consultants can help you choose one that’s just right for your skin type AND your budget!

What is a “tingle” lotion?

“Tingle” or “Hot Action” products contain an ingredient called Benzyl, Methyl Nicotinate, or Ethylene Glycol a substance often found in muscle rubs that are recommended by doctors for muscle soreness. This ingredient creates a reddening and warming or “tingle” effect, as a result of increased microcirculation – opening of the blood vessels – in the epidermis layer of the skin, increasing blood flow and better oxygenation of the skin. Oxygenation helps the delivery of required nutrients throughout the skin, helping to speed up the skin’s natural growth and maintenance processes. The more oxygen your skin gets during tanning, the better your results.

The reddening and warming effects produced by tingle lotion are a result of the increase in blood flow, similar to the flush you feel when your body’s blood flow rises as you begin exercising. It is a temporary effect, and its duration will depend on the intensity of the “tingle” or “hot action” product and the sensitivity of each individual’s skin.

“Tingle” or “hot action” products are not recommended for tanners with sensitive skin, as they are likely to find the reddening and heating effects uncomfortable. It is also recommended that all you begin with is mild hot action product and work your way up in intensity based on your own comfort level.
